Office Renovations, summer 2018

Second week of the new year

Four days later, and plywood covers the framework with glass wool insulation in the gaps. 6 more layers of brick is to go in on that southern wall upto the new windows.

Some of the internal work of the clerestory.

Our first tradie turns up, it is Collin who did some patchup work on the brickwall to our eastern neighbour a year or so, ago. He bricks up the extra 6 layers of the external eastern wall, and the 6 layers internally, on the southern wall.

Peter had rigged up some scaffolding and you can see the cardboard protection of the east facing solar panels.

Suz putting in the insulation.

The view of the office after the plasterboard people had finished. Suz then taped up the windows, and applied some white clay paint (Volvox) with sand mixed in to give texture - worked out very nicely.

A view showing the finished brickwork and the painting of the rafters and battons and wood panelling surrounding the windows. About this time, we had an electrican turn up for the wiring. He shifted the conduits for the PV to behind the office, wired up a fire alarm and put in an earth - so for 133 years, the house had not been earthed. And removed one of the conduits out the front of the guest room.

Above, Peter finishing the flashing. Below, by mid February with Peter's help, we put the ceiling panelling back in. Note that the line on wall on the left is the original ceiling height. Susanna moves her office back upstairs.
