Office Renovations, summer 2018

The photo below is of the transportation of the windows from the sea container at Peter's place to ours, where they had been stored for a couple of years . . . we had been planning this for a while . . . not to mention a year lost getting planning permission from the City of Fremantle despite no actual increase in floor space!

One slightly damp July morning in 2017. With help from Peter's neighbour, Lindsay, we (Andrew, Peter and Suz) lifted the 5 pieces of German double glazed oak windows onto the trailer and screwed them firmly in place, along with slings and rachets and ocky strapes. We then drove to Samson St, and reversed the process, storing them in the shed for the next 6 months . . .

Peter had been building the wall framework and four days before Christmas, we transported them to our place. That is a Hyundai i20 in front of the trailer. Who needs a big arse 4 WD ute?

This was actually Christmas day! Suz, having packed up her office and moved it downstairs, began removing the ceiling panels. These panels were stored on the roof, until that rain event mid January. The insulation was moved into the shed.

To be more sociable, on Boxing day we had Peter and Pierre come and help us. After erection of the scaffolding, removal of the roof begins. The white on the corner post is silicon, that Orgen is very weathered, as is the weatherboard.

The gutter goes (half rusted out), the roof tin is stored on site, the western wall panels, flashing, jarrah Fascia and window glass, removed.

Behind the wooden western wall is only foil 'insulation'.

Boxing day. Between the rafters and the battons is, of course, asbestos sheeting. Nailed and glued. We had hoped it was only cement board but a sticker previously covered by the tin, clearly states the issue. It is a week before we can get anyone to remove it.

First week of the new year.
