View from the balcony (about 1000m from the base).
The early bit, in thin forest with running streams, got the big pants on.
A short break.
Half way up, I think, an open area, the track runs into these cliffs.
Yes, I am in shade, but check out the view of Salzburg to my right.
Actually, no, that was not the very top, another 15 mins.
This will do.
Crazy Austrians, they put up these crosses right on the highest point of just about every mountain!

A mid summer's climb up a 3500m + peak in Austria
Here be dragons . . .
We had got up half an hour before dawn, the next day.
At 5am . . .
Walking across the glacier roped up . . .
Many groups were going up the mountain, these guys are behind us in the photo, but eventually caught up with us.
Whiteout, as high as we got - probably within a couple of hundred metres of the summit (3,674m). No point in going any further, very steep and very slippery ice at this point.
Out the way back down, and nearly off the ice.
The glacier . . . .
The other glacier coming down the mountain . . .
Back at the hut, clear skies and good view of the summit. Lesson of the day; getting up at 4am is really, really stupid!
Back down the rest of the mountain.
And the track still gets interesting . . .
