Bristol, UK, August 2024

Bridge, Graham and I caught an uber over to a bike shop to get bikes for the next two days. Bec turns up on her own bike.
We then continue onto the cycleway between Bristol and Bath that was essentially a bitumised railway line that now carries far more people jogging or cycling.
On the way to Bath, we get passed by steam locomotive complete with passenger wagons on a modest piece of line.
We visit the Roman Baths and are impressed with how extensive it is.
Above and below are two large Regency era buildings we check out - the famous Cresent, below.

We spend a bit time in the Roman Spa . . .

The famous weir at Bath . . . minus the tourist boats and tourist kayaks.
And lunch, pizza it turns out, very nearby.
One of the first things we notice, massive plain trees . . .
Now on our way back to Bristol
Some bridges are prettier than others . . .

I missed taking photos of where we had lunch, this old railway station was it. Absolutely pumping at the time . . . but after 7pm . . .

It was our last day with the bikes, so we rode up Brandon Hill to see Cabot Tower, built in the 1897 to commemorate John Cabot's sail, 400 years earlier, from Bristol to what is now Canada. It has the second best view of Bristol from the top. We then had lunch at the oldest pub in town, a lovely Ale steak pie for my good self. We had booked a guided tour of the Clifton Suspension bridge at 2pm which was not quite as good as the view from the bridge - and cyclists actually get to bypass the requirement for payment to cross. We crossed twice.
We score coffee and cake at one of the many streets which had been closed to motorised traffic, below.

I need to catch the bus back to Heathrow at 11am, so we all walk towards the bus station, but first coffee . . .

I take the bus back to Heathrow, and the plane back to Vienna. Bridge, Graham and Beck drive back to her place in Market Harborough.
